The Case for the Civil Jury: Safeguarding a Pillar of Democracy by Joanne Doroshow, Center for Study of Responsive Law, 1992, 1995.

"The right of trial by jury in civil cases at common law is fundamental to our history and jurisprudence. [T]hose who oppose the use of juries in civil trail seem to ignore [that] [t]he founders of our Nation considered the right of trial by jury in civil cases an important bulwark against tyranny and corruption, a safeguard too precious to be left to the whim of the sovereign, or, it might be added, to that of the judiciary." U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist.

Power, Inc. by Morton Mintz and Jerry S. Cohen, Bantam Books, 1976.

"Did you know that for the same minor crime, one judge could sentence you to 30 days in prison, and another could give you 15 years? That monopolistic utility companies are charging you for institutional advertising whose sole purpose is to soften you up for still more rate hikes? That your government in Washington, in one recent year, distributed $77.3 billion in welfare - to the rich? And that's only the beginning. Now you can read all the hard, fascinating facts about the biggest power grab in history, and the monumental rip off that at this very moment is taking your money, repealing our Bill of Rights, and changing your life - for the." The New York Times

Women Pay More: and How To Put A Stop To It by Frances Cerra Whittelsy and Marcia Carroll, The New Press, New York, 1995.

"Every day, women pay more than men do for haircuts, for cloths, for new and used cards and for a host of other goods and services. In a range of fields, from medicine and weight-loss program to divorce law and sporting activities, society has come to accept and expect that women simply pay more. With women still making only .77 for every $1 earned by men, such inequitable pricing adds insult to injury" Frances Cerra Whittelsy and Marcia Carroll.
